UB&M is designed to be a link between the African American culture and the Tulsa Community.  Our purpose is to become an online market place for all African Americans globally.  Today over 85% of all African American homes have some sort of black art and/or black literature lining their walls or bookshelves.  These purchases account for over $3Billion which is an astounding amount of buying power we carry.  In the age of information technology the African American dollar is being carried wisely. Just has Ms. Harriet Tubman alluded to in her infamous quote (above right), knowledge is the only absolute commodity that our understanding dictates whether we can afford it or not.  Tubman’s quote provokes these thoughts: “what I don’t know?” and “how do I get to know, what I don’t know?”  Could it be that reading isn’t just a hobby but also a rich purpose of sharing our stories?  Reading, art and beauty have always been about sharing culture through expression.  The history, present and future of blacks is so rich and powerful that we at Underground want to share with you by offering books, gifts, art and alike made for, written by, designed in the likeness of and inspired by African Americans.  More>>
